Emily Dumas- Knowing when to move on even if you don't know the how

Despite being one of the funniest people I know, Emily Dumas is full of practical advice and is proof that professionalism, a strong work ethic, and great communication skills will guide you no matter what industry they are applied. Emily’s background in advertising is impressive on its own but she has experience doing almost everything! I’ve always loved Emily’s perspective because so much of it echos my own. Show up, work hard, be dependable and make it easy for people to work with you.

During our chat, Emily shares her belief that relationships are truly at the heart of business success. In fact, she can trace most of her jobs back to those early referrals from her network. Although we don’t always know why we are in the roles we find ourselves there is something to be learned from each of those experiences and knowing when you have out grown them and when it’s time for something new is key.

She shares that sometimes you need to know when it's time to take a big leap, even if you're not exactly sure where it will take you next. It's important to be open to new opportunities and trust that things will work out in the end. Emily has navigated, craft shows to trade shows, being a maker through being a teacher, from gallery shows to mass market, she has such a well rounded view of all the ways creativity can be found.
